Edited: I came across Park City Girl's Blogger's Quilt Festival a couple days after posting this! I'm editing it now to be my entry for the quilt festival - since this is the one and only finished quilt in my portfolio. Check out the amazing quilters over there if you haven't already. So much inspiration!

My first quilt. I finished it forever ago but there was always some reason to delay posting about it. Either the weather wasn't right for a photo shoot or the weather was right but it had accumulated dog hair (again) and needed a washing. Finally, here it is. I really like it - but so much has happened in my quilting world since then that it feels anti-climactic to post it now.
Still. Here 'tis.
I used the pattern for the simple lap quilt from Bend the Rules Sewing. Very easy pattern and a perfect first quilt because it took me through all the basics. I feel quilt-educated enough now to move on to bigger projects (which i have - too many at once in fact).
I used some light cotton that has sort of a denim look for the back and pieced the binding out of scraps from the quilt strips. The binding was fun! Such a different task than I expected. Good news for me because I have several quilts brewing in my head that must. be. sewn. now.
It's suddenly fall here (love) so we'll have to wait for next summer for picnics on this little lady.
